Come to a meeting at RJs Wings N Things Family Sports Pub at 5025 E. Fowler Ave in Temple Terrace. The meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:15 PM. Individuals may order food.
Recent meeting guests:
The November 15th meeting we were very fortunate to have Zita Rarastesa (Tesa) as our guest speaker. She is an international Fulbright student at USF and will be speaking about the role and status of women in Indonesia.
Our October meeting featured Gia Song, Care Coorinator Suicide Prevention Services at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. She spoke about programs at the Crisis Center that focus on women.Call 2-1-1 for free crisis counseling and referrals to over 4,600 community resources. 24/7/365
The guest for the September meeting was Awake the State. -Tim Heberlain who is also a representative of F-CAN
Our speaker for August was Irene Bembry who spoke about community health education. Irene has a wealth of information to share about this important topic, paticularly as it relates to women.
Tempie Taudte, a long time member, spoke at our April meeting, about how the new immigration laws will effect women and families. The Florida Legislature is probably going to pass an Arizona style immigration bill here in Florida. She recommends a book, They Take Our Jobs by Aviva Chomsky. Another book is When Everything Changed by Gail Collins.
Jeanine Coriel, a long time member, spoke at our March meeting about the false , she recommends the book, 'Pink Ribbons, Inc. Breast Cancer and the Politics of Philanthropy by Samantha King. There is a website that will give you the information from her talk. There is also the Breast Action Action website that will give you more information.
Toni Van Pelt, National District Board came to discuss the National Organization for Women and what is happening at the National Level. VERY interesting discussion.

Feeding the homeless in downtown Tampa: Jean Batronie of Brandon spoke of her struggle to feed the homeless in Tampa.
Our meeting always have lively discussions about current events and issues that are of interest to our members and visitors.
